NDLEA Seizes N16.9bn Narcotics in Lagos Drug Bust

On April 17, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a significant operation in Okota, Lagos, uncovering three illicit drug warehouses hidden within residential estates. The operation targeted locations at 98 Olukayod Awofisayo Street and 5 Charl Ndumetu Street, resulting in the seizure of narcotics valued at N16,927,200,000.

The recovered substances included 2,360,000 pills of high-potency tramadol (225mg) and 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup, along with 19,094 cartons of codeine syrup and 34 cartons of tramadol. Brig Gen Buba Marwa, the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, described the raid as a major breakthrough in dismantling a significant drug trafficking network.

He commended the agency's efforts and emphasized their commitment to combatting drug-related crime, stating that the discovery underscores the strength of the agency's intelligence capabilities and their determination to dismantle criminal networks across the country.
