Lagos Offers Police Officers 3-Month Free Transport

On September 9, 2026, the Lagos State Government introduced a three-month free transportation initiative for police officers, allowing unlimited access to the Lagos State integrated public transportation network, which includes the Blue Line and Red Line rail services, Electric Water Boats, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses. AIG Simeon U.

Akpanudom, representing IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, received 2,000 Cowry Cards on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force at the launch. This initiative, part of the third anniversary celebrations of the Lagos Blue Line Rail, was conceived by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation Logistics.

AIG Akpanudom expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for recognizing police officers' sacrifices and noted that the initiative would alleviate financial burdens and boost morale. The state government also proposed a 50% fare discount for police officers after the initial three-month period.

Akpanudom commended the Ministry of Transportation and Logistics for their role and encouraged other states and organizations to invest in police welfare.
