Lagos Government Bans Auxiliary Nurses - Healthcare Standards Enforcement

The Lagos State Government has prohibited the employment of auxiliary nurses in health facilities, deeming the practice unlawful. Dr.

Abiola Idowu, the Permanent Secretary of the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), issued a warning stating that hospitals found employing auxiliary nurses risk facing closure. The directive aims to uphold healthcare standards by ensuring that only qualified and licensed medical professionals are allowed to practice in Lagos State.

Residents are urged to report unlicensed health facilities and practitioners to HEFAMAA for appropriate enforcement action. This ban on auxiliary nurses is part of the state's efforts to regulate and monitor healthcare facilities to prevent citizens from being attended to by unqualified personnel.
