Lagos Government Launches Drainage Project to Tackle Flooding in Lagos Island

Lagos State Government has initiated a drainage project to combat flooding by constructing a natural water flow channel in the Lagos Island area. The project, located at the former Pelewura iron rod market in Adeniji Adele, is a joint effort with the Lagos Island Local Council Development Area and is set to be completed within 12 months.

Commissioner Oluyinka Olumide highlighted the importance of efficient drainage in the low-lying Lagos Island, emphasizing the need to remove structures obstructing water flow. The project aligns with the government's goal to restore proper drainage systems in the area.

Special Adviser Olajide Abiodun also mentioned plans for a new shopping complex on the site.
