Lagos State Postpones BECE Due to Oro Festival

The Lagos State government announced the postponement of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) paper originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026. This decision was made following the declaration of the Oro Festival in the Ikorodu Division.

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Lagos State Examination Board confirmed that the examination paper will now be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The adjustment in the examination timetable was made in consultation with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of candidates and examination officials.

The Lagos State Examination Board expressed regret for any inconvenience this change may cause and appealed to parents, guardians, school administrators, and the public for understanding and cooperation. The BECE commenced successfully on Monday, June 29, 2026, and the board reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent examination in line with the educational goals of Lagos State.
