Lagos Hunter Arrested for Alleged Serial Defilement

Joseph Agbo, a 45-year-old senior inspector with the Nigerian Hunter Forest Security Service, was arrested in Lagos State for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl multiple times. The arrest occurred on a Sunday following a report from the victim's mother, which prompted preliminary investigations by the Advocacy for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN).

The organization conducted inquiries and interviews with the survivor, who reported that Agbo had taken advantage of her when her mother was away, threatening her to prevent her from speaking out and sometimes giving her money. The case has been transferred to the gender unit at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja for further investigation.

The survivor has been referred to a sexual assault referral center for medical care and psychosocial support. ACP Toyin Kazeem is overseeing the handling of the case, emphasizing the importance of accountability in incidents involving sexual abuse of minors.

CSP Abimbola Adebisi clarified that Agbo is not a member of the Nigerian Police Force.
