Truck Accident on Lagos-Badagry Expressway Kills Two

A fatal accident occurred on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, where a truck killed a pedestrian and a motorcyclist. The incident took place near the Iyana Iba Flyover, as confirmed by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs at LASTMA.

Preliminary findings indicate that the truck, heavily loaded and traveling at high speed, first hit the pedestrian before the driver continued without stopping. The situation escalated when the motorcyclist attempted to intervene, leading to the truck violently ramming into him during the pursuit.

The motorcyclist died instantly, while a sympathizer who accompanied him escaped unharmed. LASTMA's night surveillance team arrived to evacuate the deceased, whose body was trapped under the truck.

The driver was arrested at the scene, and investigations are ongoing. Olalekan Bakar Oki, LASTMA's General Manager, expressed grief over the incident, emphasizing the severe consequences of reckless driving, particularly among truck operators, and urged adherence to traffic regulations.
