Driver Dies in Tragic Lagos Crash on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway

A tragic lone crash occurred early Saturday morning along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos, claiming the life of a driver. The incident involved a Honda Pilot SUV that suddenly lost control, overturned multiple times, and came to a halt, resulting in severe damage.

The driver was trapped inside the mangled wreckage and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were on routine traffic management duties around Iyana Isolo when the accident happened.

They quickly mobilized to the scene and worked closely with officers from the Mosafejo Police Division to extricate the deceased from the wreckage, ensuring the free flow of traffic to prevent further accidents. Following the recovery operation, the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) evacuated the body to a public mortuary in line with public health statutory procedures.

LASTMA's General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakar Oki, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and urged motorists to drive responsibly, adhere to speed limits, and avoid reckless driving.
