Lagos launches protocol to improve justice for child sexual abuse victims

The Lagos State Government has introduced the Child Sexual Abuse Investigative Interview Protocol to enhance justice for victims of child sexual abuse. Attorney General Lawal Pedro emphasized the importance of this initiative in safeguarding the rights and dignity of children within the justice system.

The protocol, developed in collaboration with partners such as the Cece Yara Foundation and Rule of Law (ROLAC) Programme, aims to ensure that abused children are treated with care and seriousness, allowing legal decisions to be based on facts rather than sentiment. Bisi, CEO of Cece Yara Foundation, highlighted the significance of the protocol in preventing secondary trauma for victims and miscarriages of justice.

The foundation's Founder, Mrs. Bola Tinubu, emphasized the importance of giving a voice to children and ensuring they receive the justice they deserve.
