Lagos Legends Club Secures Health Insurance for Ex-Players

Engr Waidi Akanni, the convener of the Lagos Legends Club (LLC), expressed gratitude to Mr Bashir Are, Chairman of the Lagos Lottery Board, for facilitating health insurance coverage for over 100 former Nigerian footballers who are members of the LLC. During an event over the weekend, Akanni highlighted that this medical insurance package has become a crucial support for many ex-internationals facing difficulties in paying hospital bills.

He noted that the health maintenance organization (HMO) initiative was a long-awaited solution for the players. Akanni remarked on the visible happiness among the members at the launch of the HMO, emphasizing that it alleviates their concerns about medical expenses.

Monday Kanu, another LLC member, described the health insurance as a comprehensive package, unprecedented in the football ecosystem, and commended Akanni for his efforts in making it possible. Kanu expressed joy at the positive impact this initiative has had on the ex-footballers, ensuring their access to guaranteed healthcare.
