Navy Intercepts Ghanaian Stowaways Attempting Europe Voyage

On March 28, 2026, the Nigerian Navy's ship, NN Beecroft, foiled an illegal migration attempt by three Ghanaian stowaways identified as Armah Peter (26), Amisah Daniel (22), and Amoh Michael (25). The stowaways were found hidden inside the rudder compartment of the merchant vessel MT Anatolia, which was docked at Dangote Terminal in Lagos.

Commodore Adam Aliu, head of the NN Beecroft command, reported that the trio had embarked on a dangerous unauthorized journey to Europe, having traveled from Ghana to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, with the intention of working as fishermen. Their plan was thwarted after several hours onboard when the crew mistakenly assumed they had reached Europe.

The ship's crew was alerted, leading to the discovery and rescue of the stowaways. Following their rescue, the suspects were safely evacuated and handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for preliminary investigation and further action.
