NULGE Lagos Members Demand Suspension of State President

Members of the Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) have called for the suspension of their state president, Comrade Sundai Sewanu Ogunfowora, pending the outcome of an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This demand was communicated through a letter dated February 19, 2026, addressed to the national president of NULGE in Abuja.

The group cited Rule 27(ii) of the union's constitution, which mandates the suspension of any officer under investigation for financial misconduct. Ogunfowora is under scrutiny for alleged involvement in misappropriation and money laundering dating back to December 2025.

The members expressed concern over the national leadership's inaction regarding the serious allegations against Ogunfowora, warning that retaining him in office during the investigation could undermine discipline and public confidence in the union. They have given the national leadership seven days to act on their request, threatening legal action if the union's constitution is not enforced.
