Ogun NULGE Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to State Government

The Ogun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the state government, demanding the fulfillment of various requests concerning local government autonomy and worker welfare. The ultimatum was communicated following a meeting of the state executive council, presided over by Adefesobi Adebayo, who expressed disappointment over the government's failure to heed the union's demands.

Key demands include the full implementation of a Supreme Court judgment regarding local government autonomy, reforms to the pension scheme, and the consolidation of salaries for local government workers. The ultimatum requires the state government to address these issues by February 26, 2026, or face industrial action from the union.

The union represents workers from 20 local governments and has expressed that the ongoing disregard for their demands has eroded trust and morale among local government employees.
