Bus Fire on Ikorodu Road Injures Passengers in Lagos

On the morning of the incident, a commercial bus traveling along the dedicated BRT corridor on Ikorodu Road suddenly caught fire around 6:30 AM. Eyewitness Shade Jimoh reported that flames erupted from the engine compartment, prompting passengers to scream and evacuate the vehicle quickly.

Although the exact number of injured passengers has not been confirmed, reports indicate that no lives were lost. Shakiru Amodu, an official from the Lagos State Fire Rescue Service, disclosed that the service received the call about the fire at 6:48 AM and arrived at the scene by 7:01 AM.

The fire occurred near the Majidun Boma filling station, and while the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it is suspected to be due to mechanical fault. This incident has raised significant concerns regarding the safety of public transport in Lagos.
