Lagos Police Launch Crackdown on Concealed Number Plates

The Lagos State Police Command, under the direction of Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, has initiated a crackdown on vehicles operating with concealed or missing number plates. This enforcement effort is part of a broader strategy to strengthen security across Lagos State.

CP Fatai has directed area command division police officers (DPOs) to intensify intelligence gathering and community engagement to ensure compliance with vehicle registration laws. The initiative follows a growing trend of vehicles moving without visible registration numbers, which poses significant security concerns.

Fatai emphasized that no vehicle should be driven on public roads without properly displayed number plates. The police command aims to enhance collaboration with community leaders and transport unions to improve intelligence sharing and promote vigilance.

Additionally, Fatai warned against the spread of false security alerts on social media, which can cause unnecessary panic among residents. The police command remains committed to maintaining security and public confidence through regular strategic meetings and intelligence sharing among security stakeholders.
