Lagos Prepares for Inaugural National Intermediate Games

Lagos State is set to host the first-ever National Intermediate Games, as confirmed by the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) after a three-day inspection tour. The delegation, led by Hon.

Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, expressed satisfaction with the state's preparations. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reassured that Lagos is ready to deliver a world-class event, which aims to enhance youth sports development in Nigeria.

The inspection covered various facilities earmarked for the games, including Teslim Balogun Stadium, National Stadium Complex, and other sports venues. The governor highlighted Lagos's track record in hosting major sporting events, including the recent E1 Powerboat World Championship and the Davis Cup.

The ongoing rehabilitation of Teslim Balogun Stadium includes the installation of a new grass surface and infrastructure improvements, with completion expected by September 2026. The games are anticipated to attract thousands of athletes, coaches, and officials, further solidifying Lagos's role in grassroots sports development.
