Lagos Resumes Monthly Environmental Sanitation on April 25

The Lagos State Government, represented by Tokunbo Wahab, announced the resumption of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, set to take place on April 25, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance environmental hygiene and tackle waste management challenges that have persisted since the exercise was suspended in November 2016 due to legal restrictions on movement during the sanitation period.

The exercise will occur on the last Saturday of every month from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM, during which residents are encouraged to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels, and dispose of waste properly. Wahab emphasized the importance of civic responsibility in building a healthier city and called for strict compliance with the exercise.

The reintroduction of this sanitation culture is seen as vital for addressing the growing waste management concerns in Lagos, which have contributed to environmental pressures and flooding issues.
