Lagos State Government Supports Vulnerable Residents

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to support vulnerable residents, including thousands of families, widows, and small business owners facing economic challenges. Olayinka Ojo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, disclosed this during a workshop aimed at adopting social protection policies.

The workshop, organized by the Social Protection Coordinating Department at Alausa Ikeja, was attended by Fuad Oyed, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation. The initiative seeks to integrate global best practices into the state's social protection framework, equipping participants with practical skills to design and implement interventions that reduce poverty and promote social inclusion.

Yusuf Semiu, the Director of the Social Protection Coordinating Department, emphasized the importance of collaboration among government agencies to improve targeting and ensure that support reaches those in need. Tayo Oseni, Director of the Lagos Bureau of Statistics, described social protection as a pillar of sustainable development alongside education, healthcare, and economic growth.
