Lagos State University Graduate Achieves Top Honors

Gift Awugo graduated from Lagos State University in August 2026 with a CGPA of 4.89 out of 5.00, earning titles such as Best Graduating Student of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Best Graduating Student of the Department of Economics, and Best Female Graduating Student of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Gift's academic journey was influenced by her awareness of her family's financial struggles, prompting her to initially seek admission to a federal institution for affordability.

However, she changed her course and applied to Lagos State University despite being told admission was unlikely. She received her admission letter in December 2022, with a program fee of approximately 151,000 naira per session, while also participating in an entrepreneurship program.

Gift felt a deep sense of responsibility to excel academically, driven by her mother's sacrifices. She graduated with a first-class degree, emphasizing that her success stemmed from sacrifice rather than mere ambition.
