Atiku Abubakar Urges FBI to Release Tinubu's Records

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 election, has called on the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to release records concerning President Bola Tinubu, where legally permissible. In a statement issued on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku emphasized that Nigerians have a democratic right to know about the history and character of their leaders.

He responded to the FBI's position that disclosing certain records could endanger lives, questioning the validity of this justification given the existing threats Nigerians face from insecurity and economic hardship. Atiku accused the Tinubu-led government of exacerbating economic difficulties through policies that have increased the cost of living.

He framed his request as a matter of democratic accountability, asserting that Nigerians should scrutinize the backgrounds of those in power, especially ahead of elections. He urged the FBI to release any information that could be disclosed without compromising investigations.
