Lagos Taskforce Arrests Dismissed Officer for Impersonation

Yahaya Salami, also known as Adams, was arrested by the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, commonly referred to as the Lagos State Taskforce, for alleged impersonation and extortion. His arrest occurred at Oshodi Bus Stop on a Saturday after he reportedly resisted an invitation for questioning by the agency's operatives.
This incident followed the circulation of a viral video showing the task force operatives apprehending him. Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the agency's Director of Public Affairs, stated that Salami had been dismissed several months prior due to gross misconduct, including theft and the use of a fake identity card.
Despite his dismissal, Salami allegedly continued to impersonate a serving operative. CSP Adetayo Akerele, Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, clarified that Salami's actions could mislead the public and undermine confidence in law enforcement.
Salami is expected to be charged in court on Monday, pending procedural completion.
