Kano Police Arrest Impersonator Claiming to Be CSP

The Kano State Police Command arrested 35-year-old Adamu Musa for fraud and impersonation, as he falsely claimed to be a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). The arrest was announced by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Haruna Kiyawa on Tuesday.

On September 1, 2026, the Command acted on a distress report from No. 52 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Challawa Kano, leading to Musa's apprehension. Preliminary investigations revealed that he specialized in defrauding unsuspecting individuals by presenting himself as a senior officer with influence over police recruitment and postings.

To enhance his credibility, Musa circulated edited photographs and AI-generated images of himself alongside senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force. He used these doctored images to deceive victims into believing he could secure recruitment slots and transfers for a fee.

During the operation, police recovered various uniforms and a cash sum of ₦300,000. Musa is currently in custody and will be charged upon investigation completion.

The PPRO advised the public to be cautious of impersonators and fraudsters.
