Lagos Taskforce Rejects Activist's Immunity Claims

The Lagos State taskforce formally debunked claims of immunity made by a self-proclaimed human rights advocate concerning the impounding of a motorcycle with registration number DKA 510 QC. The incident occurred when the motorcycle was driven against traffic at Cement Bus Stop towards Il Zik, with the rider carrying two passengers without helmets.

The rider violently resisted arrest, leading to the use of tear gas by officers. The taskforce highlighted that no individual, regardless of status, is exempt from traffic laws in Lagos State.

Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the Director of Public Affairs for the taskforce, stated that the rider and three associates, who claimed affiliation with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), attempted to bribe ASP Gamagin Kaffaru with N20,000, which was rejected. The case has been escalated to court.

The taskforce emphasized that human rights advocacy does not grant immunity from traffic regulations and condemned the circulation of misleading information.
