Lagos State Calls for Participation in Sanitation Exercise

Lagos State has called on residents to actively participate in a monthly sanitation exercise set for Saturday, with the event scheduled from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Mr.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, emphasized the importance of cleaning surroundings and clearing drains in front of homes. The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) will mobilize compactor trucks across the five divisions of the state to facilitate waste collection during this period.

Dr. Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, the wife of the Lagos State Governor, will oversee compliance with the initiative, supported by a committee of wives of local officials.

Mr. Olabod Agoro will lead a team of senior officials to supervise the exercise at the local government level.

Transport unions in the state have pledged not to deploy vehicles during the sanitation hours to support the initiative. This reintroduction of the monthly exercise follows persistent calls from residents for dedicated time to maintain environmental cleanliness.
