Lagos Warns Actress Sarah Martins Against Street Cooking

The Lagos State Government has issued a warning to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins regarding her practice of cooking and distributing food on public roads. In a public statement made on Saturday by Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, the government acknowledged the charitable intent behind Martins' outreach but emphasized that cooking on public roads is prohibited under Lagos environmental and public order regulations.

This warning follows a previous caution issued last year, as the actress's activities pose safety and sanitation risks. Wahab advised Martins to channel her charitable efforts through proper channels and approved locations to avoid legal repercussions.

The warning comes after an incident in October 2025, where Martins was apprehended while cooking on a median in Lekki, which drew mixed reactions online. Additionally, Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, announced on Instagram that Martins received 20 million naira to support her foundation, although he denied making a personal donation.
