Lagos Government Warns Actress Sarah Martins Over Street Cooking

The Lagos State Government issued a warning to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins on Saturday, advising her to stop cooking and distributing food on public roads. The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Wahab, acknowledged Martins' philanthropic motives but insisted that her activities violate state environmental and public order regulations.

The government recognized the safety hazards posed by such practices and noted that Martins had previously been cautioned about similar actions. The warning comes in light of an incident in October 2025, when officials apprehended her while she was cooking on a road median in Lekki, leading to a viral video showing her distress after hot oil spilled on her.

Although Martins announced on Instagram that she received 20 million naira in support for her charity foundation, Seyi Tinubu clarified that he did not personally donate. The government reiterated that outreach efforts should be conducted in approved locations to ensure compliance with the law.
