Lewandowski Stops Taking Penalties for Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski, the forward for Barcelona, has stated that he no longer takes penalties for the team due to a lack of confidence, which he attributes to a reduced role this season. The former striker for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich has seen Lamin Yamal and Raphinha take on penalty responsibilities.

Throughout his career, Lewandowski has been proficient at penalties, scoring 89 out of 101 attempts, giving him an 88 percent success rate. However, he notably missed two penalties earlier this season against Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.

Despite being 37 years old, Lewandowski remains a reliable player for Barcelona, having scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 37 matches across all competitions. He mentioned that his lack of rhythm on the pitch, due to not playing in the last two to three games, contributes to his hesitance in taking penalties.

This season, he has missed five games, four of which were due to muscle injuries and one due to a broken cheekbone.
