Lana Critiques APC's Basiru Over Makinde's Remarks

Michael Lana, a member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, condemned Ajibola Basiru, the APC National Secretary, for accusing Governor Seyi Makinde of making irresponsible statements regarding "Operation Wetie." This term refers to a violent political crisis in Western Nigeria between 1962 and 1965. Lana warned that such accusations could incite violence and urged Basiru to reconsider his approach.

He highlighted that the APC's actions could lead to a repeat of historical violence, emphasizing the need for political leaders to avoid incitement. Lana also noted that for the first time in Nigeria's history, 30 governors will not vote for their party in the upcoming elections, which he believes undermines the electoral process.

He called for a reevaluation of the political landscape to prevent potential violence, stressing that if the situation continues to deteriorate, citizens may resort to violence as a means of expressing their frustrations.
