Delta Monarch Urges Upholding of Judicial Process in Land Dispute

Obi Ifechukwud Anishi Okonjo II, the monarch of Ogwashi Uku, has called on the Delta State government and relevant authorities to uphold the sanctity of the judicial process in resolving a lingering land dispute with the neighboring community of Ibusa. In a statement issued from the palace secretariat, he emphasized that the matter should be left strictly in the hands of the court without interference.

The monarch, who is the brother of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, reacted to reports of aggressive acts and threats to life and property related to the land claim. He noted that similar unlawful actions had been instigated in the past and warned that those involved would face the full weight of the law.

The Delta State High Court is currently handling suit no. AKU/11/2024, which concerns boundary issues between Ogwashi Uku and Ibusa.

The monarch reiterated the kingdom's commitment to allowing the judicial process to run its full course and cautioned against any attempts to undermine the court's authority.
