Delta North Monarchs Criticize Okowa on Anioma State

Traditional rulers and stakeholders from Delta North have expressed strong disapproval of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's remarks regarding the creation of Anioma State. During the inaugural meeting of the Technical Committee for the Creation of Anioma State, held at the palace in Obuzor, Ibusa, they reaffirmed their support for the statehood movement and urged unity among political leaders.

The committee's chairman, HRM Louis Nwaoboshi, highlighted the historical context of the Anioma state agitation, which dates back to 1980, and emphasized the need to refocus efforts on achieving statehood without allowing partisan interests to derail the constitutional process already underway. Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has sponsored a bill for the creation of Anioma State, warning that history will judge those who oppose this movement harshly.

The stakeholders condemned any divisive actions that could jeopardize the long-standing aspiration for Anioma State, stressing the importance of collective interest over individual political ambitions.
