Ogun State Government Condemns Police Interference in Land Case

The Ogun State Government has condemned what it describes as unnecessary interference by the police in an ongoing criminal case concerning land grabbing. The case involves defendants Ibrahim Gbenga Ibuoy and Taiwo Ibrahim, currently pending in a magistrate court in Ota, with a hearing scheduled for May 23, 2026.

The Ogun State Attorney General, Sina Ogungbad, expressed concern over the police's actions, which he claims undermine the legal process and could delay justice. The case dates back to 2007 when the World Mission Agency purchased the disputed land, which was later claimed by the defendants without legal justification.

Allegations include illegal land degradation and intimidation of witnesses. The Ogun State Government has warned that failure to cease these actions could lead to legal action against the involved police officers, emphasizing the need for investigations to remain within the jurisdiction of Ogun State.
