Ibadan Residents Seek Help Against Land Grabbers

Residents of Isokan Estate in Ibadan have called upon the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and the Oyo State government to intervene regarding the activities of land grabbers in their community. During a peaceful protest on Friday, community chairman Tayo Ashiru expressed concerns over safety, stating that land grabbers have repeatedly invaded the area, destroyed houses, and threatened residents.

The community alleges that they have paid 500,000 Naira to these land grabbers, who later demanded 5 million Naira. Despite complaints made to local security agencies and the Olubadan, no effective resolution has been achieved, leaving families in fear of displacement.

The residents are urging the Olubadan to use his traditional authority to order the land grabbers to vacate the area and are appealing to the Oyo State government to investigate and prosecute those involved. They emphasized the psychological toll of living under constant threat and called for protection of their rights as legitimate landowners.
