LASEMA Yet to Decide on Relief for Lagos Flood Victims

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has not made a decision regarding the provision of relief materials for victims affected by recent flooding in parts of Lagos State. Afolabi Olawal, a spokesperson for LASEMA, indicated that there has been no official communication or directives issued concerning relief plans.

LASEMA is collaborating with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to conduct a joint assessment of the communities impacted by the flooding, which includes Alimosho, Ikeja, Kosofe, and Lagos Island. This assessment aims to determine the extent of the damage and identify the immediate needs of the victims.

Prolonged rainfall and inadequate drainage systems have caused widespread flooding, damaging homes, businesses, and public infrastructure, and rendering several roads temporarily impassable. Residents have appealed to the state government for relief materials to cover their losses from the flood.
