LASEPA Seals 40 Facilities for Noise Pollution Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 40 facilities across Lagos State for failing to comply with noise pollution regulations. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, stated that the agency is committed to enforcing noise pollution laws, which have been a significant concern in Lagos over the past few years.

Despite ongoing enforcement efforts, a few facilities continue to operate above the permissible noise levels, prompting LASEPA to seal them permanently. The agency urges residents to understand the acceptable noise levels, which are set at 35 decibels during the night in residential areas, 65 decibels during the day, and higher levels in mixed-use and commercial areas.

Abosed Natuf, head of the noise control unit at LASEPA, highlighted the importance of educating students about noise regulations. In related activities, Inad Ayodel Oluwanifemi Alimosho from Senior Grammar School won the 2026 International Noise Awareness Day quiz, advocating for stricter compliance with noise pollution laws nationwide.
