LASEPA Trains Industrial Operators on Pollution Control

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) recently organized a training workshop aimed at industrial operators to promote sustainable pollution control practices. The event, held in collaboration with Assbifi, featured special advisor to the governor on environment, Olakunle Rotimi Akodu, who described the initiative as a critical step towards strengthening pollution management and improving environmental compliance among industries.

The annual program is designed to assess compliance levels, recognize operators adhering to regulatory standards, and identify areas requiring further training, particularly in effluent and waste management. Permanent Secretary of the Office of Environmental Services, Omobolaji Tajudeen Gaji, emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in pollution abatement.

The workshop also highlighted the need for continuous capacity building to address evolving industrial demands and advocated for the adoption of advanced technologies. LASEPA officials warned non-compliant operators of potential sanctions, including fines and shutdowns, and stressed the importance of collaboration with federal health authorities to strengthen regulatory frameworks.
