LASEPA Seals Six Steel Firms for Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed six iron and steel manufacturing companies located in Ikorodu due to alleged environmental violations. This enforcement action was announced on LASEPA's official X handle on a Monday.

Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, stated that the operation was conducted at the Odogunyan Industrial Layout as part of the Lagos State Government's efforts to protect public health and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

The companies affected include Germini Steel Nigeria Ltd., Top Steel Nigeria Ltd., Pulkit Alloy Nigeria Ltd., Landcraft Steel Nigeria Ltd., Sunflag Steel Nigeria Ltd., and African Steel Nigeria Ltd. Inspections revealed emissions of various harmful particulate matters, which posed significant risks to air quality and public health.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, reiterated the agency's commitment to enforcing environmental laws and urged industrial operators to adopt sustainable practices to prevent pollution.
