Lagos State Launches Clean Energy Challenge for Students

The Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is launching a clean energy innovation challenge for secondary school students, known as the Lagos Cleaner Energy School Innovation Challenge 2026. This initiative aims to expose students to clean energy technologies and sustainable solutions.
Biodun Ogunley, the commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, stated that the program is designed to identify and nurture future talent in the clean energy sector. A stakeholder meeting held in Alausa, Ikeja, outlined a six-week pilot program where participating students will work on practical projects focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and waste energy solutions.
Ibilola Kasunmu, the permanent secretary of the ministry, emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and private sector organizations to support the initiative. Selected students will receive mentorship and exposure to clean energy technologies.
