Lagos Deputy Governor Urges Students to Avoid Drug Abuse

Lagos Deputy Governor Urges Students to Avoid Drug Abuse

On October 22, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat warned pupils against drug abuse, cultism, and truancy during the fourth edition of the Renewed Hope Back-to-School Project at Dr Teslim Elias Primary School, Lagos Island. The event, organized by Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon, a lawmaker representing Lagos Island Constituency I, benefited over 10,000 primary and secondary school pupils through the distribution of school bags, stationery, and other educational materials.

Hamzat, represented by Damilola James, the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, urged pupils to focus on their education and respect their teachers and parents. Musiliu Obanikoro, Director-General of the Lagos State APC Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, commended Oyekan-Olumegbon for her initiative, which aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.

Oyekan-Olumegbon stated that the project aims to reassure disadvantaged children of the importance of their education and future, having expanded from 170 beneficiaries in its inaugural edition to reach children across all 10 wards of her constituency.
