LASTMA Rescues 353 Accident Victims in Lagos State

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that it rescued 353 accident victims from road traffic incidents between January and May 2026. General Manager Olalekan Bakar Oki disclosed this information in a statement issued by the agency's spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq.

The rescued individuals included 207 adult males, 137 adult females, and nine male children. Oki highlighted the increased risks faced by road users during adverse weather conditions, particularly the rainy season, and urged motorists, commercial transport operators, and motorcyclists to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations.

He noted that the rainy season presents severe hazards such as poor visibility, slippery roads, and reduced vehicle traction, which can lead to accidents. Oki advised motorists to ensure that critical vehicle components, including brakes, tyres, and wipers, are in good condition before embarking on journeys during heavy rainfall.

He also cautioned against driving through flooded areas without assessing the depth and condition of the water.
