LASTMA Rescues Critically Injured Hit-and-Run Victim

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) rescued a critically injured victim of a hit-and-run incident that occurred over the weekend at Ojota, Lagos. The unidentified motorist struck the victim along the main carriageway around Ketu inward Ojota and fled the scene, leaving the victim critically injured.

Mr. Taofeek Adebayo, Director of Public Affairs at LASTMA, reported that officers arrived to find the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple traumatic injuries, including severe fractures and a serious head injury. The victim was still alive but in critical condition, necessitating urgent specialized medical attention.

LASTMA officers secured the accident scene, controlled traffic, and alerted the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). Medical personnel assessed the victim and expressed concern over the severity of the injuries, particularly the head trauma, indicating the need for transfer to a facility capable of trauma management.

LASTMA officers remained at the scene to protect the victim while further emergency-response arrangements were made.
