LASU Generates ₦13bn IGR in Four Years, Outgoing VC Says

On Wednesday, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, announced that the institution generated approximately ₦13 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) over a four-year period from September 2021 to September 2025. This announcement was made during her address at the grand finale of LASU's combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies held at the main campus in Ojo.

A total of 20,604 graduands received their certificates, including 900 professional Master’s degrees, 238 PhDs, and 119 professional doctorates. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu donated ₦20 million each to the two best graduating students, Ayilara Lawal Olawale and Adebanjo Oluolamide.

Professor Olatunji-Bello, who is concluding her five-year term, noted that LASU's IGR increased from ₦3 billion to ₦13 billion due to strategic initiatives. She also highlighted the approval of 17 new academic programs and LASU's recognition as Nigeria’s most-subscribed university for the second consecutive year.
