LASU Student Wins N2m in LASEPA Debate Competition

Esther Oluku, a 300-level Mass Communication student at Lagos State University (LASU), won the N2 million grand prize in the LASEPA Inter-tertiary Debate held in Lagos State. The competition's theme was "Combat Transboundary Pollution," and Mari Fajana was declared the winner.

Eniola Abdullahi and Daniel Akinkuowo from the University of Lagos secured the second and third positions, receiving N1 million and N500,000, respectively. Dr.

Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, stated that the competition aims to strengthen collaboration among tertiary institutions and encourage innovative environmental advocacy. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, the former Vice Chancellor of LASU and chairman of the jury, commended the quality of solutions presented during the debate.

He urged tertiary institutions to integrate environmental awareness into their curricula. Fajana emphasized LASEPA's role in addressing environmental challenges in Lagos and called for stronger collaboration among environmental agencies, including the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), to achieve a cleaner and healthier environment.
