Lawal Claims Northern Interests Plotted His Removal

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, claimed that certain northern interests orchestrated his removal from office during Muhammadu Buhari's presidency. He expressed that his close relationship with Buhari caused unease among some individuals who feared he might be groomed for a higher position.

Lawal criticized Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambitions, urging the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to consider a more qualified candidate for the upcoming elections. He emphasized that Abubakar's past actions and current mental state raised concerns about his suitability for the presidency.

Lawal's remarks included a call for the ADC to replace Abubakar, whom he described as unqualified, to enhance their chances in the presidential election. He also referenced Abubakar's history of alleged misconduct and his responses to terrorism and banditry in Nigeria, arguing that the ADC should seek a candidate capable of addressing the nation's security challenges effectively.
