Lawmaker Orders Return of Vehicles After NNPP Chairman Defects

Rufai Sani Hanga, a lawmaker representing Kano Central Senatorial District, has instructed former local government chairmen in the district to return vehicles that were earlier provided to them. The demand was made following their defection from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter dated January 28, signed by the Secretary to the Senate, Ibrahim Nakwal Kawaji, the directive was issued to the NNPP Chairman in Kura Local Government Area, Ubal Isyaku Waska. The letter specified that the vehicles should be returned to the Senate's office located at No. 48 Sokoto Road, Nasarawa GRA, Kano, between January 28 and January 30, 2026.

The vehicles are to be kept at the Senate's office pending the resolution of the party's internal crisis. The directive also applies to NNPP local government chairmen in various areas within Kano Central Senatorial District.

Shehu Tijjani Usman, the head of the Senate's office in Tarauni, was stressed the need for immediate compliance as the vehicles are considered party property.
