Imam Onike Advocates Purposeful Leadership for Women

Imam Onike delivered a lecture titled “Empowered with Purpose (Niyyah & Tazkiyah): The Foundation of Transformational Muslim Women Leadership” at the NASFAT National Women Management Committee (NWMC) three-day Women Leadership Training held from July 23 to 26, 2026. He emphasized that true leadership is characterized by service, accountability to Allah, and the ability to positively influence others, rather than by authority or official position.

Imam Onike challenged participants to reflect on their intentions for seeking leadership roles, stating that effective leadership begins with purpose rooted in sincere intention (niyyah) and self-purification (tazkiyah). He encouraged women to draw inspiration from notable Muslim women in history, such as Khadijah (RA) and Aishah (RA), and praised distinguished women within NASFAT, including Mama S.

T. Agbalajobi, Alhaja Mulikat Bello, and Alhaja Hafsat Bello.

He outlined the “Five Ps of Transformational Muslim Women Leadership” and stressed the importance of integrity, learning, service, and legacy in leadership.
