Nigerian Senate Order Paper July 15 2026: Key Bills and Motions

The Nigerian Senate sat on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with a packed agenda covering amendments to nine health-sector laws, a pension bill for National Assembly staff, and a motion to reform how the legislature handles its own procurement. Senators also considered three citizen petitions touching on JAMB, tax refunds, and a telecom complaint.
On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Nigerian Senate took up a wide range of legislative business during its fourth session of the 10th National Assembly.
The biggest block of work was the second reading of a single bill bundled across nine health-related laws. Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele sponsored amendments that would reduce board and council membership at institutions including University Teaching Hospitals, the National Eye Centre, the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, NAFDAC, and the National Blood Service Commission — which the bill also proposes to rename from a Commission to an Agency.
Senators also received a Conference Committee Report on the National Assembly Pension Board Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, sponsored by Sen. Mohammed Tahir Monguno of Borno North.
A motion by Sen. Sunday Steve Karimi of Kogi West called for the creation of an Internal Tenders Board to handle procurement within the National Assembly, citing constitutional guarantees of parliamentary independence.
Three citizen petitions were listed for consideration, covering an alleged withholding of a JAMB result, a disputed tax refund of over N17 million from the FCT Internal Revenue Service, and a complaint against Airtel Networks over an alleged N12,000 refund dispute.
