Lewandowski Nears Transfer to Chicago Fire from Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski, a 37-year-old Polish international and former striker for Barcelona, is reportedly close to a transfer to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire. Lewandowski is expected to leave Barcelona at the end of the season when his contract expires and is anticipated to sign a two-year deal with Chicago Fire.

The club is currently in discussions regarding this potential move, as no MLS club can sign a player without a transfer fee. Chicago Fire has shown interest in Lewandowski, who is Poland's record goalscorer and could become one of the highest earners in MLS upon his arrival.

Chicago Fire, which boasts the largest Polish community outside of Poland, finished third in the Eastern Conference last season and made their first playoff appearance. Lewandowski previously spent 12 seasons in Germany's Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, winning 10 league titles and a UEFA Champions League title in 2020.
