Lewandowski's MLS Debut Delayed Over Air Quality Issues

Robert Lewandowski's Major League Soccer debut has been postponed due to air quality issues stemming from wildfire smoke. The match between Chicago Fire FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been rescheduled to October 6.

This decision was made after consultations with local health experts, as the smoke from wildfires in Ontario, Canada, has spread across the U.S., particularly affecting states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois. The match was expected to draw around 40,000 fans to Soldier Field as part of MLS's restart following the World Cup break.

Lewandowski, who recently joined Barcelona and helped the team secure the La Liga title, was anticipated to play against his former Bayern Munich teammate Thomas Müller. His next opportunity to debut in MLS will be against Inter Miami, although Lionel Messi is not expected to feature due to his participation in the World Cup final.
