Libya's Authorities Renew Talks for Institutional Reunification

Security coordination remains a critical issue, with ongoing differences over political authority and institutional organization. The dialogue gains momentum from a United Nations-facilitated roadmap, with an agreement signed on August 30 addressing the reconstitution of the Board of Commissioners of the High National Elections Commission and legal issues related to presidential and legislative elections.

The agreement commits parties to conduct elections within 24 months. The UN Security Council has welcomed this agreement as a crucial step towards unifying Libya's institutions and advancing the political process.
