Libya Arrests Five Over Drone Attacks on Oil Facilities

The Libyan government announced the arrest of five individuals linked to recent drone strikes on oil facilities, characterizing the attacks as part of a coordinated campaign. Authorities indicated that the group had also planned to target a power station located south of Tripoli, along with other critical infrastructure.

While it was mentioned that foreigners are among the suspects, no further details were provided. In August, a significant drone attack resulted in a fire at a large petrol reservoir in Zawiya, which is part of Libya’s second-largest oil refinery, capable of refining 120,000 barrels per day.

Following this, additional drone attacks occurred at the Zawiya complex, situated approximately 45 kilometers west of Tripoli. On Thursday, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported that another drone attack aimed at fuel tanks outside Tripoli was successfully thwarted.
